Chinese DLI Program

Middle School Chinese DLI

In middle school, students take a required class each year: Chinese DLI 3 (7th Grade), Chinese DLI 4 (8th Grade) and Chinese DLI 5 (9th Grade). There is also an elective class, Chinese Culture, History and Media. In 9th Grade, students have the opportunity to participate in the AP Chinese Language and Culture Test in order to enroll in the Bridge Program in high school. To better prepare our students for AP Chinese test, we offer an AP prep class as an elective in 9th Grade.

The table below shows the curriculum that the DLI program uses for each grade level in middle school.

Proficiency Report

Every student should receive an end of year Chinese language proficiency report from their Chinese teachers in April or May. In the report, you can see where your students’ language proficiency levels are in listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. On the report, it explains all the details about what students can do with the target language in their levels.
